TIB’s Origins
TIB’s pre-descendant company Norpet Insurance Brokers Lesotho (Pty) Ltd was operated in Lesotho for 22 years from 1979 to 2001. Norpet was purchased by Aon in 2001 and its owner Norman Dixie remained with Aon Lesotho until 2007. He subsequently left and started Thabiso Risk Consultants (Pty) Ltd in 2008 which changed its name to TIB Insurance Brokers (Pty) Ltd.
The Dixie family has deep roots in the Mountain Kingdom and has been in business in Lesotho for over generations. In the insurance sector the family history can be traced back to 1969 when Denys Dixie, Norman’s father became a founder shareholder of the Lesotho’s first insurance brokerage, Kingsway Brokers (Pty) Ltd. Garth Dixie continues the family legacy in Lesotho into the 5th generation.
